Avr software serial library -arduino12/27/2022 ![]() The remaining macros have their own comments in the source code. Note that when using the functions, F_CPU needs to be defined before including that file. This demo project just uses the internal calibrated 1 MHz RC oscillator that is enabled by default. The name F_CPU is the conventional name to describe the CPU clock frequency of the controller. As the ATmega48/88/168 controllers belong to a more recent generation of AVRs, a number of register and bit names have been changed there, so they are mapped back to their ATmega8/16 equivalents to keep the actual program code portable. Note that the location of the PWM output itself is mandated by the hardware, so it cannot be easily changed. This provides some kind of mini-HAL (hardware abstraction layer) so should some of the connections be changed, they don't need to be changed inside the code but only on top. The first macros describe the IO pins our LEDs and pushbuttons are connected to. The source code has been divided into numbered parts, and the following subsections explain each of these parts.Ī number of preprocessor macros are defined to improve readability and/or portability of the application. This section explains the ideas behind individual parts of the code. By not updating the EEPROM immmediately but only after a timeout, EEPROM wear is reduced considerably compared to immediately writing the value at each change. This virtually preserves the last value across power cycles. non-erased) value at startup, it is taken as the initial value for the PWM. If that EEPROM cell contains a reasonable (i. The current value of the PWM is backed up in an EEPROM cell after about 3 seconds of idle time after the last change. This situation can be figured out on startup by reading the MCUCSR register. This will make the demo application run in a tight loop without retriggering the watchdog so after some seconds, the watchdog will reset the MCU. When running in serial control mode, the function of the watchdog timer can be demonstrated by typing an `r'. VAREF on the STK500 should be set to the same value as VCC. So the brightness of the LED follows the analog input value on PC0. While PD4 is shorted to GND, one ADC conversion for channel 0 (ADC input is on PA0) will be triggered each internal clock tick, and the resulting value will be used as the PWM value. Shorting PD2 to GND will decrease the current PWM value, shorting PD3 to GND will increase it. PD2 through PD4 are configured as inputs, and control the application unless control has been taken over by the serial port. The demo application talks to the serial port, and it can be controlled from the serial port. PD0 and PD1 are configured as UART IO, and can be used to connect the demo kit to a PC (9600 Bd, 8N1 frame format). PD6 will be toggled with each internal clock tick (approx. Note that in the explanation below, all port/pin names are applicable to the ATmega16 setup. Likewise, the ATmega48/88/168 and ATtiny2313 devices can be debugged through debugWire, using the Atmel JTAG ICE mkII or the low-cost AVR Dragon. The major advantage of experimenting with the ATmega16 (in addition that it ships together with an STK500 anyway) is that it can be debugged online via JTAG. The flash ROM and RAM consumption of this demo are way below the resources of even an ATmega48, and still well within the capabilities of an ATtiny2313. The MCU_TARGET macro in the Makefile needs to be adjusted appropriately for the alternative controller types. (PD4 is used as the ADC control button on the other MCU types, but that is not needed here.) OC1A is located at PB3 on this device. Also, port D of this controller type only features 6 pins, so the 1-second flash LED had to be moved from PD6 to PD4. As this AVR does not offer an ADC, everything related to handling the ADC is disabled in the code for that MCU type. The internal pull-up resistors are enabled for the pushbutton pins, so no external resistors are needed.įinally, the demo has been ported to the ATtiny2313 as well. When not using an STK500 starter kit, attach the LEDs through some resistor to Vcc (low-active LEDs), and attach pushbuttons from the respective input pins to GND. All other port D pins should be connected the same way as described for the ATmega16 above. (PD6 remains unconnected.) When using the STK500, use one of the jumper cables for this connection. Thus, the above cabling scheme needs to be changed so that PB1 connects to the LED0 pin. Likewise, the OC1A output is not on port D pin 5 but on port B pin 1 (PB1). These controllers do not have a port named "A", so their ADC inputs are located on port C instead, thus the potentiometer needs to be attached to port C. As an alternative, this demo can also be run on the popular ATmega8 controller, or its successor ATmega88 as well as the ATmega48 and ATmega168 variants of the latter. Vine with work from home song12/25/2022 I blame a lack of leadership, which is creating an ugly new class divide in this country. How can this be? Our city centres are virtually deserted, and yet major employers, such as banks and insurance companies, say there is no hurry to get back to the office.Įven the Government is too scared to tell civil servants to return to their desks. Lego marvel superheroes 2 xmen12/25/2022 Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 lets you loose in Chronopolis, meaning you can visit other planets like Xandar or Hala, or other civilizations like Attilan or K’un-Lun. Jetpacks, web-swinging, teleporting, and flying all allow for characters to quickly travel in a number of diverse ways, which is important in such a huge open-world. Marvel and Gwenpool can take selfies (and it is as ridiculous as it sounds). Blue Sky are great inclusions), while teenage characters like Ms. Star-Lord can listen to his walkman and dance while he battles ( Come and Get Your Love and Mr. The present characters are quite impressive though, as many have been entirely overhauled to avoid characters becoming too “same-y”. These characters are important to both Marvel and its fans, and no amount of awkward side-stepping can make us forget these iconic heroes and villains. I complained about this same exclusion in my review of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, and I’ll continue to bring it up for as long as these characters are absent. Gwenpool has replaced Deadpool, the Avengers Mansion has replaced Xavier’s Institute, etc etc. Galactus, the X-Men, the Fantastic 4, and Deadpool are all curiously absent from the game with little to no explanation, or even acknowledgement. While these characters are all solid inclusions, they can’t hide the fact that all FOX-owned characters have mysteriously disappeared. Forbush Man, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Gwen are just a few of the otherworldly characters to appear, which makes for a nice sense of variety in the roster. The story itself is light and fun, and best of all it allows for a fantastic open world and some truly fringe characters to appear. It’s up to some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes from all different worlds to defeat Kang in order to restore order to the many displaced realities. Right at the beginning, Kang has combined different universes and time-periods together to create Chronopolis, the ultimate empire for him to rule over. ![]() Picking up right after the first game’s climactic battle with Galactus (who isn’t mentioned by name), Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 revolves around the invasion of the time-travelling tyrant Kang the Conqueror. La noire answers12/24/2022 ![]() Noire is, instead, the first release from an independent Australian developer called Team Bondi, which worked on the game, reportedly, for the better part of a decade. Noire (the chapter titles! The red-dot enemies on the minimaps! The absurdly well-chosen soundtrack!), it did not actually develop the game. Rockstar proceeds as though it is perfectly obvious that video games can tell meaningful, interesting stories that involve characters of genuine depth and vitality, and at times its games tell stories well enough that this does seem obvious.Īlthough Rockstar’s fingerprints are all over L.A. What a lot of us love about Rockstar and Rockstar’s games, however, is how seriously they take storytelling. They take place within open worlds, yet are governed by largely linear narratives they are heavy on noninteractive cut scenes, yet typically go to great lengths to leaven their dictated storytelling with dynamic gameplay scenarios that reward player decision they attempt, with the tenacity of novelistic realism, to plumb the depths and steeplejack the heights of American culture, yet they are also wedded to all manner of “gamey” tropes and conventions. In a lot of ways, Rockstar’s games come across as big, buttery bowls of mashed aspirations. Noire and the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto games and Red Dead Redemption, with a good deal of asperity and suspicion. If you do not believe that video games are or should be primarily a storytelling medium - and there are plenty of smart, thoughtful people who hold that line - chances are strong that you regard Rockstar, the publisher of L.A. Nevertheless, the first thing I did after finishing it was to put every game I own back into storage. It also validated and challenged some of my core convictions about the medium. It is a game that frustrated me enough to make me start playing something else when I was in the middle of it. Noire, which Grantland asked me to write about, and which I finished about an hour ago. But there were a few games coming up that I knew it was going to hurt to miss. This did not count as playing because (a) it was not a proper game, (b) lasted only a month, and (c) is the parting shot of a franchise with which I have a long-running personal and professional relationship. The one thing I kept playing after putting all my games into storage was the multiplayer Beta for Gears of War 3. So a month ago I decided to quit playing video games. At least, this was what I was telling myself while playing, say, Crysis 2 at four o’clock in the morning. But the whole reason I was playing so many games I neither liked nor loved was to see how they had stormed that same castle. But of the various projects to which I found myself attached or within an eyelash of being attached, one imploded, one was canceled, one I removed my name from, and one entered stasis. I was eager, all the same, to storm the castle. ![]() Video-game storytelling is a more challenging conceptual problem than it may seem, and the manner in which this problem might best be addressed is in no way apparent. This excited me, given that one concern of my book is how poorly video games have told stories. A couple of developers read it and came calling. Last year I published a book about video games called Extra Lives. Some of this despondency has to do with my largely futile efforts to write for games. But video games have begun to seem like a fly buzzing in the room, and the only reason the fly is not dead is I have become too lazy to kill it. She doesn’t.) Life was and is fine, in other words. I do not want to overstate things: I get my work done, hold down a teaching job, and the woman with whom I share my life does not, I think, feel neglected. Recently I worked out a rough estimate of the number of hours I had spent playing games I neither liked nor loved, which proved disquieting, indeed. Over the past few years, I have played many video games I have liked, and a few I have loved, but most I have neither liked nor loved. Hajime no ippo manga amazon12/18/2022 The resolution and the depths to the color are a step up from the first installment. In the end, rather than cutting out some parts of the manga and having been a little reliant on some unnecessary recaps, I give the story and characters. But I think they did the story arcs of the Martinez and Date fight and Ippo’s fight with Hammer Nao justice. Sometimes things were too fast due to those omissions, sometimes things were too slow just to concentrate on certain dialogs, and there are times it was just right. Next, I felt at times the pacing was unbalanced. ![]() But for those not familiar with the manga, the first season had some cuts as well such as Mike Tyson’s story inspiring Ippo to box and Aoki painting himself black to get Ippo ready for Jason Ozuma, so omissions in this version I find aren’t too surprising as well in retrospect, but I felt the omissions were still bad ideas since those scenes did contribute something to the establishment and progression of those sections of the stories. I feel I can forgive that because I think it deserves it’s own OAV or TV movie, especially under Nishimura Satoshi’s direction (which I heard is now confirmed). And I can’t deny the cut of the Kamogawa and Nekota flashback story arc. For example in the Date/Martinez fight, Okita fought in the undercard in the manga, but for some reason they cut it out in the anime and yet, they dedicate half of an episode to recapping Ippo’s fight with Date in the first season when they could have done something more productive instead. To me, Ippo vs Sendo 2 was actually the beginning!!! Since then, I decided to read the manga and currently up to date on it which is now nearly 90 volumes, and I’ll say I still haven’t gotten enough!!! But moving on, to a certain extent, New Challenger for what it covers is faithful to the mangaĪbout 85% of the time though a few things are omitted. Even though the first anime series was 70 plus episodes, I felt I didn’t get enough by the time I finished watching it. To start things off, I can say is that it’s about damn time that a new anime installment of Hajime no Ippo came under way. I've learned what is the thing that makes man GREAT. When this anime ended, I've lost part of my soul with it, but yet i learned something that cannot be learned in any school. And now i'm feeling a bit lighter, because I've shared this with you. When you are touched by something, you just cannot stop. I started up, thinking this review is gonna be very short. It doesn't deserve any number.īecause when you put one part of your soul in something, you cannot give it any limitations. It seems stupid, but that's the thing that can push you up when you feel like dying.Īnd you know what? Forget crap like marks. It shows you that there is nothing, NOTHING more important, NOTHING more valuable than FRIENDSHIP. With your friends, your guts, your will, will of steel. This is not an anime about some superhero. And it actually shows you that this is not impossible. Those boxers have something that keeps them on surface, not letting them sink. This anime shows that there is no just "brute force" in boxing. You have so many different people here, each one better than another, all unique in some sort of way. You know, reviews are about scores, studying all segments of series, but this anime HAS SOUL. I know this review sounds like shit, and there are 100% lot better reviews then this,īut I'm sorry, i can't write review about this series and not get my emotions here. Watching them get beat up and yet stand again. ![]() The "gang".It always looked like I am part of it, laughing and sorrowing with them. You get to know each one of the characters in the series. In this anime you don't just have pure fight, action non-stop. Yet i never imagined that anime series about boxing could be much more interesting than the "real thing". So right now, the only place you can watch it really is either on youtube or some "Illegal" anime site that has it.You know, I've always loved boxing. So the only way to legally read the manga is by a physical copy in one of the 4 countries that is it legal leased (and Japan.) Of course, there is no legal version in English either. At one point in time, Crunchy did hold the license to air Rising on it website when it aired, but I assumed they didn't renew it since they no longer list it on their site.Įdit: I should add, there is no where legally to read the manga online too, since Morikawa is anti-digital, where he doesn't want any of his work posted online. The first season (episode 1 - 75 and Champion Road) was licensed at one point in US (where there is a dubbed/DVD version for it) but the company went bankrupt or got out of the anime business. Unless you live in a country where the series is licensed (like France, Taiwan/China, South Korea, and Thailand), you probably not going to be able to find a legal place to watch it. Dungeon keeper 3 reviews12/18/2022 ![]() Manually looking for and picking up minions, for example, can get annoying at times. The user interface could also be more intuitive and dialed in. Another gripe I have involves the super long loading times, which makes reloading maps in case you make a mistake an onerous process. ![]() At the same time, this makes Dungeons 2 also feel like a Jack of all Trades and a dungeon master of none. It would have been incredibly tough to juggle full-fledged dungeon sections with an all-out RTS portion while swapping between both constantly. It’s an issue I’m sure the developers understand given how both gameplay parts are simplified compared to titles that fully concentrate on one genre. Focus too much on your expeditionary force and your dungeon could implode due to poor management. Concentrate too much on your dungeon management and your Overworld forces can be massacred while you aren’t looking. It also requires a lot more micromanaging, which might be overwhelming for some folks. Actively swapping between the dungeon and RTS sections in real-time, for example, can be a bit jarring at times given that they feature different mechanics. While the game’s 2-in-1 approach provides nice diversity in gameplay, it’s a strength that also serves as a weakness. It’s a game that certainly doesn’t take itself seriously, featuring a lot of tongue-in-cheek moments and homages to other games. This type of levity is one of the strengths of Dungeons 2, which also gets a nice assist from narrator Kevan Brighting of “The Stanley Parable.” Granted some of the game’s attempts at irreverence and humor can get annoying at times but they work well overall, especially for folks who liked the humor in another Kalypso title, Tropico. I was literally chuckling in amusement as he spouted verse after terrible verse in his garden while being watched by his pixie bodyguard. As such, working on your dungeon and making sure it’s self-sufficient and well-protected is crucial as it serves as the foundation for launching your attacks on Overworld foes. Fail in one aspect and you’ll find yourself less equipped to deal with the challenges that the game throws at you. These include exploding treasure chests that literally blow up in dungeon-raiding heroes’ faces, either killing them or softening them up for your followers to finish off.ĭungeon management is like a safety dance that involves a careful balance between manpower, money and space.
